Overview

Develop, aggregate and analyze data to support Cascade Public Media’s ability to connect with audiences and donors. Deliver intelligence and strategic recommendations and provide world-class audience and consumer analytics.

Salary Range: $105,000-$120,000 annually

Temporarily Remote

Scope of Position

Lead the Data and Analytics team for the organization with primary responsibility for crafting, maintaining and iterating on an integrated analytics platform which can empower business leaders to make data-driven decisions. 

Work with CPM business and technology leaders and external vendors to design and implement a (Salesforce) CRM migration that maintains/improves integration with a variety of digital products and back-office systems. Oversee the management and continued evolution of that CRM – and our member data – as part of our overall analytics ecosystem. 

Ensure data accuracy.

Cultivate deep interdepartmental relationships to foster a data-driven culture across the enterprise and the industry. 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES  

  1. Oversee our Data and Analytics platform and strategy, with the ultimate goal of providing business leaders the intelligence they need to grow our membership
  2. Work with CPM business and technology leaders to define KPIs that really matter, and gear our products and programs accordingly
  3. Draw data from a variety of sources, and package it in an actionable way (data lake, visualization layer) for business leaders 
  4. Design, develop and implement a scalable analytics infrastructure, dashboards and self-serve tools for the purpose of:
    1. Informing content, sales, marketing, fundraising and organizational strategy 
    2. Identifying new opportunities, partnerships and technologies to grow audience and revenue
    3. Equipping CPM to deliver personalized and rich experiences to the populations we serve
    4. Strengthening CPM by empowering stakeholders at all levels of the organization to make data-driven decisions 
  5. Work with vendors, business and technical staff to oversee major data projects, including
    1. Company-wide analytics infrastructure overhaul (data lake, next-generation dashboards, self-serve visualization tools)
    2. Shift to a new CRM (our current Salesforce NGOC platform will be sunset) 
  6. Lead Data and Information Management Strategy
    1. Oversee management of the enterprise CRM, including data architecture, governance, quality assurance, solution design, business process design, user acceptance and continuous improvement
    2. Implement a comprehensive data strategy for acquisition, management and integration of internally and externally sourced data assets
    3. Partner with the IT Team, consultants and other third party vendors to provide oversight and discipline over all data-related technology decisions
  7. Cultivate a data-driven culture
    1. Promote the advancement of a data-driven, test-and-learn culture throughout the organization
    2. Promote the use of data and analytics in the project planning process – including  project justification, design and evaluation — by providing a basic data and analytics framework
    3. Offer resources and services to CPM stakeholders as well as the System
  8. Manage the Audience Analyst; develop and manage a CRM admin
  9. Be an advocate for members’ digital privacy. Ensure CPM collects only the information we need to serve members and safeguards that data to maintain trust with our members and the community we serve

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. A minimum of 5 years experience with a mix of business intelligence, advanced analytics and data management
  2. Experience with television ratings is a huge plus
  3. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. A Master’s Degree in data science, information management, information science, analytics or a related field is a big plus
  4. Familiarity with media research, including methodologies, market players and usage
  5. Fluency in applying data science to real-world business problems
  6. Resourceful. Founder mindset
  7. Problem solver with excellent analytical skills and ability to turn data into information. Proven success in providing data-driven strategic recommendations to drive concrete action
  8. Ability to operate independently and manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously
  9. Exceptional influencing, diplomacy, persuasiveness and negotiation skills. Ability to lead diffuse parts of the business by influence, not command & control
  10. Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to understand how and why business users make decisions, and how data can enable them
  11. Strong leadership skills with prior experience building and leading a data analytics team and driving cultural change
  12. Knowledge of business intelligence solutions 
  13. Strong knowledge of relational database modeling required, including logical and functional modeling
  14. Familiarity with data modeling concepts, such as logistic regression, is preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Ability to regularly type on a keyboard
  2. Ability to view data on a computer screen for long periods of time
  3. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
