Full Stack Developer

Overview

Contributes to Cascade Public Media’s digital technology team by completing front- and back-end development tasks for various types of web and mobile applications and digital content projects.

 

Salary Range: $80,000-$83,000 annually

Seattle, temporarily remote in Washington state

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

I. Develop

  1. Collaborate with front-end developer(s) using a combination of programming skills (PHP, HTML, CSS, JS, etc.) to build Drupal 8/9 themes and subthemes which transform visual designs into working applications
  2. Collaborate with back-end developers to build Drupal 8/9 sites and modules, serverless applications, and other services using PHP, NodeJS, Python, and/or other languages
  3. Ensure that non-functional requirements such as security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability are being considered when architecting solutions
  4. Adhere to and establish where necessary coding standards and organization
  5. Write clear and coherent technical documentation
  6. Build and maintain a variety of headless apps (OTT, web, mobile) so additional programming skills are highly valued (tvOS, React, etc.)

II. Knowledge and Skills

  1. Maintain job knowledge by studying new development tools and programming techniques; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal and professional networks; participating in professional organizations
  2. Assist in the development of new product ideas and  strategies
  3. Learn and work in new frameworks, languages, and technologies as needed
  4. Use documentation and exploration to understand and develop with a variety of APIs

III. Coordinate

  1. Work closely with the technology and design teams to create content-driven features, tools, and projects
  2. Recommend technical approaches (libraries, frameworks, Drupal modules, etc.) for a variety of CMS-driven and “flat” website projects
  3. Keep teammates updated on task and project progress using collaboration tools (tickets, pull requests, internal communications, etc.)
  4. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor’s degree (in any field) or equivalent technical training or professional experience as a full stack developer required
  2. Experience designing and developing complex web applications required
  3. Experience with PHP, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS required
  4. Working knowledge of the Drupal CMS and Drupal development preferred
  5. Familiarity with API development and consumption preferred
  6. Exposure to AWS, GraphQL, mobile/OTT app development, NodeJS preferred
  7. Portfolio of digital projects required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  1. Ability to view data on a computer screen for long periods of time
  2. Ability to regularly type on a keyboard 
  3. Ability to work some evenings, weekends, holidays as needed
