Promote PBS and local content through the KCTS 9 social channels. Work within digital marketing team to reach more people, build a great organization and inspire a smarter world.


Salary Range: $55,000-$60,000 annually

Seattle, Temporarily remote in WA State


The Social Media Editor will lead engagement with KCTS 9 audiences through social channels; using strategic planning and content execution to achieve the following goals:

  • build community of inspired, loyal followers
  • outreach to existing and new audiences
  • reinforce the KCTS 9 brand voice
  • generate excitement for KCTS 9 programming
  • encourage followers to increase support of KCTS 9


I. Social Media

  1. Draft and schedule posts across social media channels in support of KCTS 9 content and community engagement priorities
  2. Work with design team to develop promotional assets for different social channels  
  3. Follow social media trends and best practice recommendations
  4. Lead efforts to engage audience in conversation through social outreach and responses
  5. Monitor and moderate comments and audience feedback
  6. Report on both quantitative and qualitative performance to help inform wider marketing and audience engagement efforts
  7. Document learnings and processes
  8. Work with marketing manager to test and optimize paid social ads

II. Copywriting and Editing 

  1. Provide writing and editing support for email newsletters and web content
  2. Other external and internal communication duties as assigned
  3. Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice


  1. Exceptional writing skills and proven ability to communicate with diverse audiences
  2. Three years experience managing social media content, particularly Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn
  3. Experience applying publishing best practices, adhering to editorial and journalistic best practices required
  4. Ability to engage with audiences in a conversational tone while maintaining brand voice
  5. Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or related field preferred; or equivalent experience


  1. Ability to view data on a computer screen for long periods of time
  2. Ability to regularly type on a keyboard 
  3. Ability to work some evenings, weekends, holidays as needed
