Overview

The Production Manager is responsible for leading the production schedule and post-production process, and assists in managing the video department. They manage internal and external video editors and animators, book crew for shoots, oversee the department budget alongside the Director of Videography, and assist in the production workflow to assure quality and efficiency, while demonstrating CPM’s values of integrity, community, innovation and diversity.

 

Salary Range: $75,000- $80,000 annually

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Collaborates with the Director of Videography to coordinate video producer’s resources and priorities and ensure a steady stream of timely and high-impact video content
  • Manages the quality and efficiency of video production and post-production workflows, timelines and deadlines
  • Manage internal and external video editors and animators to complete short-form and long-form video content for broadcast, OTT and social media
  • Collaborates with the Director of Videography to create and manage yearly video department budgets as well as project budgets
  • Identify and solve resource challenges for all projects in flight
  • Cooperates with Programming Coordinator to schedule video content and deliver titles, descriptions and images for the KCTS 9 broadcast schedule, Viewer Guide and OTT
  • Collaborate with on-air promotion team to schedule promo production for all broadcast video content
  • Provide production guidance and support to internal and external teams
  • Work with Director of Videography and Design Director to coordinate graphic design elements
  • Ensure delivery of all relevant assets from independent contractors
  • Books crew for productions as needed
  • Coordinate the technical specifications and implementation of live, studio recorded and remote/field productions
  • Participate in the specification and evaluation of editing equipment for acquisition
  • Identify equipment malfunctions and notify maintenance technicians
  • Manage post-production strategies and timelines
  • Act as a liaison between Production and Engineering, identify equipment malfunctions and notify maintenance technicians
  • Give input toward improving production strategies and timelines
  • Proactively identify opportunities for workflow improvement
  • Provide solutions to identified workflow issues
  • Maintain Post Production practice/policy documentation
  • Maintain Production Pipeline practice/policy documentation
  • Collaborate with other team members to foster a positive and productive culture and contribute toward the overall growth of the CPM

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of professional non-linear editing software required, AVID Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro preferred
  • Knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator CC
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of video production in a live or studio environment
  • Ability to interact with technical and non-technical team members across a variety of fields
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for building and fostering key internal and external business relationships, as well as the ability to perform effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to continuously improve processes and systems and adapt to changing priorities with ease
  • Drives a culture of experimentation and improvement when it comes to tools, technology and process
  • Demonstrated success as an organized problem solver
  • Able to collaborate with external partners and vendors efficiently and effectively

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BA/BS Degree in Communications or related field or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of two years management experience or people management required
  • Four years experience coordinating and managing video production workflows and timelines in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to view data on a computer screen for long periods of time
  • Ability to type on a keyboard for long periods of time
  • Ability to see and distinguish colors required
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work some evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
