Provide integral support for all Programming department tasks. Coordinate internal and external programming decisions to produce, distribute and maintain our comprehensive KCTS 9 broadcast schedule across various platforms while demonstrating CPM’s values of integrity, community, innovation and diversity.

Hourly Rate: $25.50 - $28.15

Location: Seattle - Must live in WA State, hybrid schedule that requires days onsite each week with other days remote

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Manage the programming consulting service to schedule complete program schedules each month.
  • Maintain accurate program data in Protrack, reconcile daily updates from PBS and other distributors
  • Process programming announcements from PBS and disseminate as necessary
  • Schedule daily program feeds, catalog new programs into internal library database, acquire programs from other stations when needed
  • Prepare daily program playlists before they are handled by the Traffic department. Review embedded program packages and remove redundant interstitial filler content
  • Help manage program acquisitions inventory and broadcast rights. Review program offers from PBS, APT, BBC, NETA and local sources. Screen potential program acquisitions and make recommendations
  • Identify and recommend independent program acquisitions
  • Work closely with stakeholders such as Editorial and Events to review and coordinate scheduling of original short-form series and specials
  • Work closely with membership to schedule pledge programs, create aircheck program records, schedule aircheck records, manage and reconcile broadcast rights of all pledge programs
  • Work closely with marketing to support accurate listing schedules in the viewer guide
  • Communicate and distribute monthly program reports to all listing services in the U.S. and applicable services in Canada. Send updates as needed
  • Enter program schedule information into Nielsen database. Make updates as needed
  • Draft FCC required Program and Issues Quarterly report. Work with legal team to publish to FCC file. Assist in relevant components of CPB SABS reports. Review and reconcile annual PBS common carriage reports
  • Load national feed schedules of CREATE and KIDS24/7 for broadcast. Make reschedules and preemptions as needed
  • Track program performance, recommend line-up changes, assess dayparts
  • Coordinate scheduling of two monthly programming meetings for internal senior staff and for internal stakeholders
  • Keep Programming section on the Intranet up-to-date
  • Define and maintain viewing metrics/ratings reports and manage a resource folder.  Provide reporting to management monthly, and as needed for strategic planning
  • Collaborate with other team members to foster a positive and productive culture and contribute toward the overall growth of the CPM

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Excellent written and verbal communication required
  • Strong attention to detail/organizational capabilities required
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word and Excel) required
  • Working knowledge of broadcast production process and traffic management systems strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with/affinity for KCTS 9 (or other local PBS member station) programming preferred
  • Adept at working both independently and collaboratively to accomplish goals and objectives within deadlines
  • Collaborate with other team members to foster a positive and productive culture and contribute toward the overall growth of the CPM

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast, Communications or other related field, or equivalent job experience
  • Experience in project management preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to view data on a computer screen for long periods of time
  • Ability to regularly type on a keyboard
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
