Special Events Coordinator (On-Call)

Overview

Bringing together a passion for public media, networking and an eye for detail, this position will work to inspire a smarter world by sharing Cascade Public Media’s initiatives with the local community through a wide array of events.  

Hourly Rate: $25.00

Hours: Up to 19 hours/week, hours will vary

Seattle, temporarily remote in WA State

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

Manage and Execute

  1. Support Events Manager in the proposal, planning, management and implementation of community engagement and fund-raising events and initiatives that leverage programming, digital content and strengthen Cascade Public Media as a community institution 
  2. Contract with and manage vendors
  3. Manage event timeline creation in conjunction with Events Manager
  4. Act as a liaison for trade agreement relationships and contracts with partner organizations

Plan

  1. Lead logistics for community events in conjunction with Events Manager
  2. Conduct research and development by seeking input from key community organizations on projects
  3. Contribute to event strategy and planning 

Collaborate

  1. Report back to Events Manager, Events Director, partner organizations and other CPM departments on event metrics and outcomes 
  2. Track event sponsorship deliverables in coordination with the corporate underwriting team
  3. Attend all regular events department meetings 
  4. Other duties as assigned, responsibilities and activities may change at any time. or be assigned 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Community Relations or related field or equivalent experience required 
  2. Three years of experience in communications, public relations, community organizing or related field required  
  3. Three years of event planning experience required
  4. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word) required 
  5. Strong presentation and writing skills required
  6. Strong project management skills preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  1. Ability to work some evenings, weekends, holidays as needed
  2. Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid drivers license
  3. Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds unassisted
  4. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
