About Inside the Newsroom

Inside the Newsroom, a twice-monthly live virtual interview with Crosscut reporters that offers added detail on breaking news and important perspectives on our ever-changing cultural landscape. From the tumult in City Hall to the complex impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, Inside the Newsroom is a chance to hear directly from journalists on the ground about how these stories come together and to get the backstory on the most important issues affecting our community.

About Facing the Fallout

For many, 2020 has been the most stressful year in memory. Worries about health, relationships, school, jobs and financial security are just the start of a very long list. Some have a financial cushion and a support system that is helping them weather whatever the universe sends their way. But for others, COVID-19 has been the last straw, pushing them off the edge of a cliff that was looming before 2020, metaphorically or in real life. For this series of stories, Crosscut reporters share the Washington experiences of people staring over the COVID cliff, at work and at home.
